“Crossing The Rubicon: Past the Point of No Return”
When a loved one dies and you're left in the ashes, sometimes turning inward is the only way out. I learned the hard way that there is really is such a thing as the "dark night of the soul" when my husband Randy died and I no longer knew who I was anymore. It was as if my identity had died along with him. It wasn't until a year and a half later, when he woke me up in the middle of the night and told me to "get out my pen and paper" because we were going to write a book, that everything changed.
Crossing the Rubicon is a result of the "download" that occurred that night. Revealed within the verse and prose is the conversation Randy and I had, but had never communicated in words, as he’d lain dying. In succinct and no uncertain terms, this joint effort of writing, images, and music expresses how many of us traverse the stages of grief—from denial and shock and anger all the way to ultimate acceptance and love—and is, oxymoronically, painfully illuminating.
Randy taught me what I really needed to know, and things that would change my life forever:
The gift of perspective: We are all spirit in human form, what he calls “Vacationing Angels.”
The gift of knowing he and the rest of the Spirit World are not only fully present, but accessible to everyone and dedicated to forming a new kind of partnership.
The gift of knowing that the perpetuation of grief only acts as a wet blanket on our natural ability to hear from, communicate with, and develop a relationship with the Spirit World.
The gift of a new life with new awareness, new consciousness, new passions, and new loving connections with those on both sides of the veil.
These are just some of the gifts Randy has chosen to share with me from the Other Side. I am honored to share them with you as they were co-created with me, through this Crossing the Rubicon book, the images he asked me to paint, and the improvisational, inspirationally guided flute music he asked me to record.

Artist Bio
When her husband Randy transitioned in 2012, Heidi Connolly’s life took a dramatic turn. Owner of Harvard Girl Word Services for over 20 years, Heidi had focused solely on the work of others. Now, through the writing with Randy of her award-winning book Crossing the Rubicon, Heidi understands that she is capable of much more than she’d ever given herself credit, including her ability to communicate with the Other Side.
Currently, her multidimensional compass is set to the practice of writing, intuitive/mediumship coaching, spiritually guided healing music,
and living life as a “Vacationing Angel.” Heidi’s newest book, The Gateway Café, is the enticing story of a teenager’s journey of awakening through inter-dimensional travel and angelic intervention.
