“Blood in the Grove”
Film & Dance Performance
Originally premiering in 2024, Blood in the Grove is a dance film produced by Das Biest Performance Project.
It explores death and the cultural impact of medieval death iconography through movement and dance. The direct inspiration for this film was 1970's folk horror and the 1518 dancing plague.
This work is danced by Hazel Gamden, Carys Maitland, Ruth Idunn, and V. Production and cinematography were done
by Cian Gamden and Sophie Marie Schatz.
The original score was crafted by Ozzie Schatz.

Artist Bio
Founded in 2018 by Sophie Marie, Das Biest Performance Project is a dance-based art group. All of our staff and dancers are Queer Identified and/or disabled artists. We seek to create space for marginalized artists a place to create the Strange and Weird. Our work focuses on themes of folklore, queerness and horror.
